Model history:

The model history of the Mercedes-Benz W126 began in September 1979 with the presentation of the S-Class Saloon at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The series was offered in various engine variants, including four-, six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder engines, as well as with various body variants. In 1981, the coupe (SEC) was added, which was produced until 1991. In 1985, the W126 underwent a comprehensive facelift, in which, among other things, the front and rear sections were changed. Production of the W126 finally ended in September 1991, after a total of over 800,000 vehicles were produced.

In this auction, a second-hand Mercedes-Benz 280 SE can be bought at auction. Mercedes-Benz is registered as the first owner. The second owner was an elderly lady who used the Mercedes as a second car for 40 years. According to the seller, she used the vehicle exclusively for holiday trips to Spain. It is a German vehicle with the chassis number WDB12602212036159 from the year of construction 1981. The mileage is 137,000 kilometers and can be proven on the basis of documents, but a checkbook is no longer available. Engine and gearbox are still original according to the seller and matching numbers thus given. The classic car report for the H license plate is already available and the next main inspection is scheduled for July 2023.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

The timelessly elegant body of this W126 is painted in lapis blue metallic, the so-called "Sacco boards" and the bumpers are kept in silver gray. The seller is not aware of any accidental damage or repainting. The seller states that the vehicle is 75% in the original paint. It can be seen from the photos that there are small bruises on paint and bumpers and were partly repaired with a paint pen.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

The 280 SE rolls on 14-inch baroque rims with new Hankook tyres in size 195/70. A winter wheelset on steel rims with Mercedes hubcaps is also part of the auction. The seller attests to the brakes in good condition, ABS is already on board.

Interior:

The interior of the W126 offers plenty of space and comfort for the occupants. The functionally designed dashboard and centre console are trimmed with zebrano wood trim, while the comfortable seats are covered with grey velour. Special equipment includes an electric sunroof, cruise control and central locking.

Mileage

The odometer in the middle of the clearly legible instruments shows a mileage of only 137,734 kilometers. The mileage can be traced on the basis of documents. According to the seller, there is a folder full of invoices and TÜV certificates.

Engine:

The proven six-cylinder in-line engine delivers 185 hp. Power is transmitted to the rear axle via a 4-speed automatic transmission. The last service was carried out in February 2023. The seller describes the subfloor as stainless, preserved and cavity sealed.
