The Peugeot 304, arranged in the lower middle class, first appeared to the public in 1969 at the Paris Motor Show. Technically, the 304 was based on the 204, which it also resembled externally. A new 1.3-litre transversely mounted engine was added. Initially, the 304 was only available as a sedan, but in the course of 1970 a three-door station wagon, a five-door station wagon, a three-door panel van and a convertible were added. In 1972, various changes were made to the 304: Among other things, instead of a band speedometer, there were now round instruments, revised taillights and head restraints. Production of the cabriolet ended in 1976, and the last 304 rolled off the production line in 1980.

The Peugeot offered in this auction is a 304 S Cabriolet from the year of construction 1975, which comes from 2nd hand and was registered for the first time in Germany in May 1975. The chassis number is 4702234. In part, the history of this Peugeot convertible can be traced back – but some former invoices and TÜV reports are available. The 304 is already in possession of an H-approval, the TÜV runs until July 2023.

In terms of paint, the white Peugeot presents itself in a good state of preservation with a few traces of use in general, a repainting took place according to the information of the current owner only in the area of the right fender – this was completely repainted. Except for this repainting, the Cabriolet impresses with its first paint – which is why signs of wear and tear are also present in places, which now testify to the age of the vehicle (over 45 years). The black fabric top of the 304 can be attributed a used constitution, in addition, there is also a hardtop in the color black, which is in acceptable condition. The current owner cannot rule out an accident with the 304 S.

Tyres from the production year 2020 are mounted on original Peugeot 5-spoke rims. The rims can be attested to a well-preserved condition, in the area of the brakes there are obviously no deficits present and chassis technology the 304 impresses with its original condition.

Some patina can be seen in the interior of the Peugeot 304 S Cabriolet: the seller mentions above all the complete originality of the interior. Although on the whole minimal traces of use can be detected, damage or even missing parts inside the Peugeot are not to be enumerated. In addition to a contemporary radio, an immobilizer should also be mentioned as a feature. All displays, instruments, switches and levers in the interior of the 304 S are fully functional. In addition, the black fabric top can also be opened and closed without any problems.

The 5-digit odometer shows a mileage of 72,959 – according to the seller, this mileage can be almost traced via various documents such as previous invoices and receipts.

Installed transversely under the bonnet is the 1.3-litre in-line four-cylinder engine, which transmits approx. 50 hp to the rear axle via a 4-speed manual transmission. Last year, according to the seller's statements, a final service took place, current defects in the technology can not be remedied according to the current owner. The seller describes the condition of the subfloor as good. As a designer, Peugeot chose none other than the experts from Pininfarina for its lower mid-range car. With the transversely mounted light-alloy engine, in addition to the beautiful silhouette – especially in the Cabriolet – there is also an innovative and reliable concept. With this 304 S Cabriolet to be auctioned here, the design with the white exterior and black interior is just as convincing as the healthy technology. This 304 is a small but fine convertible, which serves for cozy open rides while you yourself are relaxed back to the 1970s.
