Eagerly awaited by many customers, BMW presented the first 3 Series Cabriolet at the IAA in 1985, some 15 years after the discontinuation of the 02 Series, a full convertible. In addition to the coupé and saloon, the open-top mid-range car was the third body variant to complement the range of the second generation of the 3 Series with the factory code E30. Initially, the 3 Series Cabriolet was offered exclusively in the 325i variant, later the 320i and 318i rounded off the engine range of the Cabriolet. From 1988, the M3 Cabriolet, the top model of the series, was also offered in an open version.

In this auction, it is now possible to bid for a BMW 318iA Cabriolet of the E30 series. The car with the VIN WBABA61080EJ45908 rolled off the production line in 1993 and was registered in April of the same year on its first and only vehicle owner, first in Germany and a few years later in the south of France. The car has a complete history as well as a complete checkbook. Particularly noteworthy is the meticulous documentation of the numerous repair work, which was always carried out by BMW itself, whereby the car is characterized by its unique condition in addition to its detailed history. The BMW was recently transferred to Germany, and is currently still registered in France. The roadworthiness of the Cabriolet has been certified by the French authorities until April 2023, the German TüV including HU/AU can be carried out on request before handover. A complete import to Germany including the execution of a general inspection is possible on the part of the seller. The vehicle has "matching numbers", a valuation report is not available. The BMW comes with a set of a total of two vehicle keys and is said to be in an accident-free condition. The BMW was used for a long time in a holiday home in France and was always maintained.

Even externally, the car can be seen that this is not an ordinary E30 convertible. "Daytona violet metallic" is what the Munich-based company calls the paint finish of the open two-door model, which to this day is one of the most individualistic colours from BMW and has always only been produced in small quantities. The special paint finish of the "Limited Edition" is in excellent condition with the Cabriolet: As part of a vehicle reconditioning by BMW in spring 2022, a complete cleaning and polishing of the body was carried out, and the bonnet and bumpers were also repainted at the front and rear. All scratches and dents on the exterior were removed by BMW without additional paintwork. The fact that all work was carried out professionally can be seen from a closer look at the vehicle body, which is presented in excellent condition all around. As a result, the entire exterior of the car is largely free of scratches or dents – only in the area of the passenger door is there minimal damage to the door edge. The stylish electronic soft top of the convertible, which comes with the original wind deflector, is also in a carefree condition

As part of an overall inspection in 2021, all vulnerable parts of the body and chassis, such as the steering sleeves, exhaust holders and brake discs, were also repaired and replaced. The brakes, steering, springs and shock absorbers were also checked and, if necessary, repaired, and the sound insulation under the front flap was replaced. The chassis and body are in excellent condition due to the documented work, and have not been modified beyond that. The optional extras on the exterior include fog launchers including a second fog taillight, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors and the "Shadow Line" version. The car is in an accident-free condition.

The interior of the cabriolet is also individualistic: With the two-tone full leather interior in black/violet, the car in combination with the rare exterior colour belongs to a "limited edition", which was only produced in small quantities. The extraordinarily well-kept condition of the BMW also continues in the interior: here, too, no expense and effort was spared to restore the E30 to an almost mint condition. In spring 2022, for example, a leather preparation of the front and rear seats as well as a complete cleaning was carried out by BMW. The result of the documented work can be seen from the excellent condition of the interior, which is clean and free of defects. Particularly noteworthy is the original BMW "Bavaria C Reverse RDS" radio, which contributes to the original condition of the interior. Other features include heated seats for the driver and front passenger, electric radio antenna, power steering, central locking, electric windows and ABS. As part of the repair work, the heating fan was also maintained.

The instrument panel of the convertible is in the classic BMW style of the early 90s. The six-digit speedometer has a total mileage of 135919 km, which can be traced through the detailed history and complete documentation. As part of the numerous works, all indicator and warning lights of the instrument cluster have also been renewed, so that all instruments work without restrictions.

As a model variant 318iA, the BMW Cabriolet is equipped with a four-cylinder engine, which has a displacement of 1796 cc and a maximum output of around 113 hp. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the automatic transmission. Numerous repair work has also recently been carried out by BMW in the area of engines and transmissions: as part of the last service in December 2021, the automatic transmission system was repaired, in February 2022 the camshaft including balancing elements was replaced and the engine was tested and fine-tuned. All work was carried out in the same BMW garage where the vehicle was newly acquired around 30 years ago. Thanks to the comprehensive repair measures, the BMW is also free of defects and worries in the area of technology and engine, so that no further work is currently pending. All invoices and also the delivery invoice are available and will of course be given. This E30 is a vehicle for all those who are looking for something special, where the history is completely traceable and has always been maintained.

The underbody of the car is also in good condition, so that there are also no defects to complain about.
