Model history:

With the Alpina models B6 2.8, B7 Turbo and B7 Turbo Coupé presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1978, the still young company Alpina took a big step towards becoming an automobile manufacturer of exclusive BMW-based vehicles. While BMW's 323i (E21) was considered by many to be a descendant of the 2002 tii, the legacy of the legendary 2002 turbo is probably the Alpina B6 2.8: This is based on the 323i and the centerpiece was a 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine from the 528i. In addition, Alpina modified the engine with, among other things, forged Mahle pistons, modified combustion chambers, increased compression and a new injection system. Changes compared to the normal 323i also took place in the areas of transmission, suspension, brakes, wheels, interior and exterior.

General information about the vehicle:

Now one of only 533 produced Alpina B6 2.8 can be bought in this auction: This model is the production number 498 - an Alpina certificate is available and confirms that this vehicle is an original Alpina B6 2.8. The car was first registered in 1983 with the FIN WBAAH310XD8406093 in Germany, over the years 3 owners came together, who were allowed to call this Alpina their own. Matching numbers are fully given and the TÜV runs until March 2024. A complete checkbook is available, and there is also the original new car invoice.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

Specific Alpina distinguishing features in the outer area are the front spoiler, the rear spoiler and the then optionally available Alpina trim stripes, which in the case of this B6 2.8 offered here are held in the color gold and are therefore very suitable for the dark green paint. A repainting took place after consultation with the seller, an accident-free in the current possession can confirm the current owner of the car. Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

On Alpina multi-spoke alloy rims are mounted tires of the brand Uniroyal, which according to the seller are very good and just like the brakes came only recently new. Alpina equipped the B6 2.8 with Bilstein struts with gas shock absorbers and shorter springs from Ahle.

Interior:

Recaro sports seats with a contemporary pattern and decent lateral support can be seen as soon as you open the doors of the Alpina B6 2.8. The 4-spoke steering wheel is covered with leather and comes from Momo, the wooden gear knob with Alpina logo is made of wood. The following features can be found on board the B6 2.8: steel sunroof, ABS and a Blaupunkt cassette radio. All controls have a decent function and gross defects in the interior are not to be found according to the seller's statements, as the interior is in an extremely neat condition given the age and the overall mileage.

Mileage:

Red needles and "Alpina" lettering in the large round instruments signal in the instrument cluster that you are sitting in an Alpina vehicle. A mileage of 227,230 kilometers can be read on the speedometer - this can be credibly traced by a complete checkbook.

Engine

The heart of the Alpina B6 2.8 sits under the bonnet: The 2.8-liter in-line six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine delivers an output of 218 hp, which is brought to the road via a Getrag 5-speed manual transmission via the rear wheels. In December 2022, final service work was carried out.

Subsoil:

In view of the total mileage of this Alpina and its age of now 40 years, the underbody can be attributed a flawless substance - according to the seller, the underside of the car is rustproof and unwelded. A small number of only 533 units produced, the enclosed Alpina certificate, which states that this B6 2.8 is an original vehicle and the thought of being able to keep up with the Porsche 911 of its time due to the performance of this Alpina, make this Alpina B6 2.8 so special.
