cedes-Benz R129 in 1989, the brand set new stan dards in the lux ury road ster seg ment. The R129 replaced the R107 and pre sented itself with a mod ern design and inno v a tive tech nolo gies. The SL 600 in par tic u lar, which was launched in 1992, impressed with a pow er ful V12 engine that drew 394 hp from a 6.0-liter dis place ment. The R129 thus embod ied the pin na cle of the Mer cedes-Benz road ster line and, together with the SL 600, made an impres sive per for mance state ment.
