Technik: Der Austin-Healey 3000 wurde am 1. Juli 1959 mit einem 3-Liter -BMC C-Series-Motor angekündigt , der den kleineren 2,6-Liter-Motor des 100-6 ersetzte , und mit Scheibenbremsen an den Vorderrädern. Die Hersteller gaben an, dass der Wagen in 11 Sekunden auf 60 mph und in 31 Sekunden auf 100 mph beschleunigen würde. [ 2 ] Andere Änderungen waren im Vergleich zu denen zwischen dem ursprünglichen 100 und dem 100–6 geringfügig . Radstand und Karosserie blieben unverändert, ebenso wie die Karosserievarianten, ein 2+2 oder BT7 und ein zweisitziger BN7. Der Wetterschutz blieb minimal, ein faltbares Kunststoffdach auf einem leichten, abnehmbaren Rahmen und über den Türen abnehmbare Seitenwände mit verschiebbaren Plexiglasplatten. Speichenräder, Overdrive-Getriebe, Verbundglas-Windschutzscheibe, Heizung, verstellbare Lenksäule, abnehmbares Hardtop für den 2+2 und Zweifarblackierung waren als Optionen erhältlich. 13.650 Mark I wurden gebaut: 2.825 offene Zweisitzer BN7 und 10.825 BT7 2+2 Straßentest Ein BT7 3000 mit Hardtop und Overdrive, der 1960 von der Zeitschrift The Motor getestet wurde , erreichte eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 185 km/h und beschleunigte in 11,7 Sekunden von 0 auf 97 km/h.
