Model history

The model history of the Mercedes-Benz W126 began in September 1979 with the presentation of the S-Class saloon at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main. The model series was offered in various engine versions, including four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines, as well as with different body variants. The Coupé (SEC) was added in 1981 and was produced until 1991. In 1985, the W126 underwent a comprehensive facelift, which included changes to the front and rear end. Production of the W126 finally ended in September 1991, after a total of over 800,000 vehicles had been produced.
