Model history

The Jaguar XJS is regarded as the English interpretation of a Grand Tourer. The model was built in different versions over an astonishingly long period of almost 21 years from 1975 to 1996. In addition to a coupé and a fixed-profile version, Jaguar also offered a pure convertible. The original design was shaped by Malcolm Sayer, who, as a specialist in aerodynamics, was also largely responsible for the design of the E-Type. In 1981, a new generation of engines was installed, which lasted until 1991. A facelift in 1991 following the takeover of Jaguar by Ford resulted in a number of changes to the body and powertrain.
