Model history
With the 996 series, Porsche introduced a new generation of the 911 at the end of the 1990s. It replaced the 993 and was the first model in the series with a water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine, which enabled it to meet stricter emissions and fuel consumption regulations while also delivering higher engine performance. At the same time, the 911 was given a completely redesigned body with increased dimensions and improved comfort. In addition to the coupé and convertible, a Targa variant was also offered again, featuring a large glass roof that combines a particularly open driving experience with the everyday practicality of a coupé.
