Model history

Porsche presented the 944, the successor to the Porsche 924, at the IAA in September 1981. It was presented with a high-torque 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine which, coupled with a manual gearbox, offered an output of 163 hp. The Porsche 944 was the best-selling Porsche model in the 1980s and helped to further establish the Porsche brand in the USA.
