Model history

The Porsche 964, first introduced in 1989, was a drastic further development of the Carrera 3.2. It was initially offered as the all-wheel-drive "Carrera 4," followed by the rear-wheel-drive version "Carrera 2" in 1990. The 964 was the last model with the classic removable Targa roof.

Equipped with a 3.6-litre boxer engine and a revised chassis with coil springs, the 964 was the first model to feature power steering and ABS as standard. Aerodynamics were improved with flush bumpers and an electric rear spoiler system. Dual airbags and an improved air conditioning system were introduced in the interior.
