Technik: Die beim NSX – bis auf ein Teil im Interieur – vollständig aus Aluminium gefertigten Karosserie-, Fahrwerks- und Motorkomponenten waren zwar nach Werksangaben rund 200 kg leichter als vergleichbare Teile aus Stahl oder Grauguss, das Gesamtgewicht lag mit rund 1350 kg dennoch auf dem Niveau der damals konventionell gefertigten Konkurrenzmodelle. Dies erklärt sich aus der für einen Sportwagen umfangreichen Komfort- und Sicherheitsausstattung: Klimaautomatik, HiFi-System mit CD-Wechsler, elektrisch verstellbare Ledersitze, Airbags sowie Polster- und Dämmmaterial. Wenn sie entfernt werden, reduziert sich das Gesamtgewicht des NSX um rund 100 kg, was nachträglich auch durch die 2002 vorgestellte und nur 1244 kg schwere NSX-R-Modellversion bestätigt wurde. Die Karosserie wurde auch aus Strangpressprofilen aus Aluminium gefertigt, eine Neuheit bei Automobilen. Das Gesamtgewicht verteilt sich beim Serienmodell zu 42 % auf die Vorder- und 58 % auf die Hinterachse. Der NSX wurde anfangs in lediglich vier Farben angeboten: Sebring Silber Metallic (NH 552 M), Berlina Schwarz (NH 547), Formula Rot (R 77) und Indy Gelb Pearl (Y 52 P).
