Model history

The Mercedes-Benz 124 model series was first presented in 1984, starting with the saloon at the end of 1985: over the course of its ten-year production period, it was available with diesel and petrol engines in four-, five-, six- and eight-cylinder versions. The original version was followed in the fall of 1989 by the first facelift with more tinsel: namely on the door handles, the hubcaps and on the top of the so-called "Sacco boards" - the striking wide plastic covers above the sill. In the interior, there was additional fine wood on the dashboard and door panels. Production of the W124 series was discontinued in 1997 after over 2.5 million vehicles had been built.
