Porsche 356 BT5 Karmann Hardtop Coupé (1962)

Moritz Niemann

Kickdown's Take

by Moritz Niemann

This 356 is an absolute collector’s item. The distinctive body was produced exclusively by Karmann in 1961 and 1962, and there are barely a hundred roadworthy examples left in the world. Fully restored, in excellent technical and cosmetic condition, with black leather and an “H” license plate. The four-cylinder engine delivers an authentic driving experience. A true rarity and a highlight for passionate Porsche enthusiasts.

Model History

Introduced in 1959, the Porsche 356 B was adapted to the demands of the American market with the new T5 body. The bumpers and headlights were positioned higher, and the interior featured lower seats and a new steering wheel. The T6 body followed in 1961, featuring larger windows, two engine ventilation grilles, and a side-mounted fuel filler cap in the fender. These updates improved both the design and practicality of the 356 B. The 356 Hardtop Coupé represents a particularly rare body style of the 356 B, which was produced by Karmann for only a short period of time.
