It is nicknamed the "Italo-M3" because it was built especially for the Italian market: we are talking about the BMW 320iS of the E30 series. Because the Italian state imposed a luxury tax on cars with a displacement of more than 2.0 liters, BMW built a sports model especially for this market, which offered almost the performance of the E30 M3 with less displacement and at the same time came across as more bourgeois. The 320iS is the S14 engine, which is also installed in the E30 M3. Only in the "Italo-M3" the S14 engine was modified accordingly to get below the 2.0-liter displacement mark. In total, just over 3,700 units of the 320iS were produced for the Italian market.
In this auction, a so-called "Italo-M3", more precisely a BMW 320iS of the E30 series, from the year of construction 1989 can now be auctioned. The first registration of the car with the FIN WBAAK950X02801063 took place in Italy on 11.05.1989, over the years this 320iS then came to Germany. According to the seller, this BMW counts 3 owners – the last of which was a collector of BMW vehicles. 1 set of keys is still included with the vehicle, a partially comprehensible history is also given. Before the handover to the future owner, the TÜV is still done anew, this E30 is already in possession of an H-approval. Matching numbers exist after consultation with the owner.

Externally, this "Italo-M3" is clean according to the age and the overall mileage: Modifications to the body in "salmon silver metallic" can not be found. As standard, a BMW 320iS was equipped with the M-Technik 2 body kit, which consists of a modified front and rear apron, side skirts and a rear spoiler. In addition, all add-on parts on the BMW are in body colour. According to the current owner, corrosion on the BMW cannot be found on the entire interior, furthermore, the seller rules out an accident.

Falken tyres from 2007 in the 205/50 dimension are mounted on original BMW cross-spokes aluminium rims in body colour. Borstein scratches on the rims cannot be removed. The condition of the brakes is stated by the seller as good, in the area of the chassis he notes that new Bilstein B6 shock absorbers have been installed.

In the interior of the BMW 320iS, the first thing you can see is the full leather sports seats with leg rest adjustment, which are in good shape except for a slightly patinated driver's seat. The M-Technik leather steering wheel is somewhat worn, but there are no signs of wear on the gear knob. On the equipment side of this BMW 320iS, the following features should be highlighted: power steering, power windows, central locking, air conditioning, rear opening window, ABS, limited-slip differential and a Blaupunkt accessory radio. All instruments in the interior can be attested to their perfect functioning.

White hands on black dials announce important information in the speedometer: In the speedometer, the odometer can be detected with a read mileage of 126,891 kilometers. According to the seller, it is possible to partially track the total mileage of this E30 by means of various invoices and previous TÜV reports.

From 2.0 liters, the S14 engine gets 197 hp, via a 5-speed manual transmission – in which the 1st gear is at the bottom left – the power of the engine is transmitted to the rear axle equipped with a limited-slip differential. Only recently, according to the current owner, a major maintenance took place. Defects in the powertrain are obviously not noticeable.
