Model history:
At the end of the 1950s, the VW Beetle already looked back on an existence that led to two generation changes in other models. Not so with the Type 1, which was stoically built over all decades with crank arm front axle and swing rear axle, apart from the Beetles 1302 and 1303. All assemblies were subjected to cosmetic changes, usually several times, the engine power grew from 30 to 34 to 50 hp. The 1302/1303 models were followed in 1974 by the VW 1200 (L), which were produced until 1985. In 1955, Volkswagen celebrated one million Beetles, while worldwide Beetle production did not end until 2003 with over 21.5 million vehicles built.
General information about the vehicle:
In this auction, a VW Beetle (Special Bug) of German first delivery is now offered for auction, which dates from the year of construction 1983 and has a total of 4 vehicle owners. According to Vekräuferauskunft, the Beetle with the VIN WVWZZZ11ZDM004819 has the so-called matching numbers and due to a partially kept checkbook, the history of the vehicle can be approximately proven. In addition to an H approval, the car has a valid TÜV, which runs until September 2024.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
Visually, the VW Beetle (Special Bug) shows itself in a black paint color - after consultation with the seller, the paint came in the course of the restoration work already completely new - but an accident can be excluded. Various golden decorative stripes on the exterior provide successful accents. All attachments on the vehicle are preserved in good condition and many chrome trim elements have been made black. So the bumper was also painted over in body color. As a small paint damage, the current owner indicates a quirk in the left rear fender, otherwise the seller attests to the car in good condition.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
As tires are Kumho tires on the vehicle - these have a condition of 30-50% after consultation with the current owner of the vehicle. Golden rims fit very well into the overall picture of this VW Beetle (Special Bug). The seller attests 70-90% condition assessment of the brakes.
Interior:
Bulkhead fabric seats in a pattern matching the colour of the Beetle can be found in the interior. In addition to the 4-spoke steering wheel, the JVC accessory radio - which delivers good sound via Blaupunkt speakers - should also be mentioned as an equipment feature. On the whole, the interior of this VW Beetle (Special Bug) is attributed a very good state of preservation, which is not clouded by any gross inconsistencies. For more details regarding the interior of this VW Beetle and the equipment elements, please have a look at the other photos and videos.
Mileage:
In the only round instrument located on the dashboard, a mileage of 15,200 kilometers can be read on the 5-digit speedometer. As a history, in addition to various invoices and receipts, there is, among other things, a partially kept checkbook - all instruments and controls in the interior work perfectly according to the seller.
Engine
From 1.2-liter displacement, the four-cylinder boxer engine of the VW Beetle generates 34 hp - the power transmission takes place via 4-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. In September 2022, this VW Beetle underwent a final service.
Subsoil:
As welded, preserved with cavity protection and affected by flash rust, the seller describes the condition of the underbody of this VW Beetle from 1983. It is worth mentioning that, according to the current owner, a total of € 4,000 was invested in the VW (invoices are available). A cool color combination, the golden accents on the car and the well-groomed condition make this VW Beetle (Special Bug) endearing.
