Model history:
In 1993, after 15 years of production, Porsche ended the era of the 3.3-liter boxer engine that served in the 911 Turbo. It had already been used in the "G-model" and lasted almost the entire production period of the 964 model. However, the new turbo engine made its debut around six months before its successor was presented. Its basic features were based on the familiar boxer engine of the 911 Carrera 2 and, like the latter, had a displacement of 3.6 liters. The unit was refined with the "extras" of the previous turbo engine and received the same turbocharger and intercooler. Together with some modifications, the engine reached 360 hp.
General information about the vehicle:
In this auction, a very special Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 can now be purchased: Namely, this model is a prototype vehicle from Porsche.
Intotal there were 3 prototype vehicles for the 3.6-liter engine setup, which were converted by Porsche - this model from the year of manufacture 1991 with the VIN WP0ZZ96ZNS470644 offered here for auction is one of them.
After the production of the Turbo, this classic was converted by Porsche to a prototype vehicle. The present Porsche certificate shows the equipment of the vehicle before the in-house vehicle conversion and at the same time proves the status of the 964 as an original prototype under the code "14861".
The exact number of keepers cannot be determined. According to the seller's information, the car was previously owned by 3 owners, whereby the current owner has owned the vehicle since 16.12.2005. The original sales contract is also available, which can be viewed under the folder "Documents". The last completed TÜV shows a validity until November 2023.
Exterior color/paint/body:
In terms of paint, this Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 presents itself in classic sporty black metallic: The car still has its first paint as measured - which is why, according to the seller's information, slight patina can be seen here and there on the exterior.
The original hood was replaced with an aluminum hood
.
The corresponding original is available and is also sold. It also has the measured first paint density. Only the registered GT2 rear spoiler was exchanged over the years for a 964 Turbo S rear wing made of GRP. No other exterior modifications can be found after consultation with the seller.
Thedocumentation of the otherwise fully preserved original paint can be traced in the picture gallery.
Exterior Rims/Brakes/Suspension:
Tires in a condition of c.a. 50-70% are mounted on original 5-spoke Porsche aluminum rims. The condition of the brakes indicates the current owner of c.a. 70-90%. Furthermore a tuned Porsche 964- Cup suspension including direct Le Mans steering has been installed in the vehicle. Again, according to the seller, no inconsistencies can be found.
Interior:
The retrofitted Sparco Pro 2000 bucket seats are the first thing to be noticed in the interior of this Porsche 964 Turbo prototype . Otherwise, the original features of this sports car include a sunroof, central locking, power windows and ABS. All the electrical gadgets work perfectly and all the gauges and instrumentsdo their job without any problems. The changes made to the interior can also be traced back to the purchase contract dated August 7, 2002.
Mileage
The current owner of the vehicle purchased it in 2005 with a mileage of 42,600
kilometers.Currently, 67,000 kilometers can be read on the speedometer of this prototype - via a checkbook, the authentic mileage of the car can therefore be partially reconstructed. As mentioned, the official exhaust document and the sales contract are also available, which can prove the historical mileage.
Engine
According to the seller's statements, in addition to the previous information, the engine type designation "M64/50 S," also documents that a 3.6-liter S-engine with 385 hp was installed in 1998 - based on the current pictures, it can also be confirmed that an S-engine with the mentioned engine number is installed. This can also be seen in the 1998 emissions report from the Swiss Mofag, where the mileage was only 17,369 km. Theindividual gears are engaged via a 5-speed manual transmission . In November 2021 last service work took place. The salesman lets mention that the vehicle is in a technically perfect condition.lets
Underbody:
As rust-free and unwelded the current owner indicates the underbody of the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6. If the "normal" Turbo 3.6 of the generation 964 is already a rarity, since the production was stopped already at the end of 1993 again, this prototype vehicle offered here to the auction represents the "Blue Mauritius" under the Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6, whereby it is interesting on the one hand for Porsche collectors, on the other hand in addition, lovers of rare prototype vehicle addresses.

Comments of this past auction
