Model history:

It is one of the most famous nicknames for a Mercedes-Benz model: "Pagoda". The reason for this was the inwardly curved hardtop, reminiscent of Far Eastern temple buildings and intended to provide more rigidity. But this was more of a marginal note in 1963, after all, the first successor generation to the 190 SL and 300 SL Roadster came onto the market. The body, derived from the "tail fin" sedan (W 111), set a new safety standard with crumple zones. The new SL was supplied as a convertible with a folding top and optional hardtop or as a 2+2 hardtop roadster without a top. While with 190 SL and 300 SL comfort and sportiness were expressed in a separate model, Mercedes-Benz tried to unite both characteristics in the 113.

General information about the vehicle:

Now there is the possibility to acquire a Mercedes-Benz of the 230 SL of the 113 series from first registration 1966, which was originally delivered to the USA and came over the years to Germany. There is no checkbook available for the roadster, the history can no longer be traced exactly - however, a few invoices of the last years are available and according to statements of the current owner, this 230 SL has only 2 owners since import. TÜV owns this partly restored Pagoda still until May 2024, an H-license plate may she besides already carry. In June 2020 one accomplished a value appraisal at this Mercedes Benz, which resulted in that the replacement value of this 230 SL lies with 65,000 €.

Exterior color/paint/bodywork:

Optically this Pagoda presents itself in white held - in combination with the various chrome decoration elements as well as the chrome bumpers thus a noble, if not even delicate optics results. As the model name "230" already reveals, a 2.3-liter inline six-cylinder engine works under the hood of this W 113. The power of 150 hp is transmitted to the rear wheels via a manual transmission. According to the current owner, the last service work took place in 2020.
