Model history

The BMW M3, presented at the IAA in 1985, was developed as a homologation model for the BMW DTM racing series and enjoyed enormous popularity right from the start of series production. This model, born directly from motorsport, is considered one of the most iconic models of BMW M-GmbH and also features technology from the BMW M1 super sports car with its racing gearbox and highly developed four-cylinder engine. This light and fast BMW M3 can still be seen on any race track today.
