Model history

The Jeep Wrangler is a good example of how cult status does not necessarily have anything to do with sophistication. In 1987, the Wrangler replaced the CJ-7: the body was very similar to its predecessor, and the option of open-top driving was retained. The first generation of the Jeep Wrangler, known as the YJ, which was mainly recognizable by its square headlights, rolled off the production line until 1995. The successor (TJ) then had rounded headlights again, as was customary with the CJ models, and was built until 2006. Jeep's Wrangler model is now in its fourth generation.
