Mazda launched the first RX-7 on the market in 1978. When it was launched, the era of the Wankel engine was almost over, but Mazda tried again and was successful. The RX-7 FD was introduced in 1991 and was the further development of the RX-7 FC that preceded it. With up to 280 hp, the RX-7 FD was the most powerful model in the RX-7 series. This Wankel sports car was only sold in Germany from 1991 to 1996, before the new emissions regulations restricted its registration.
