The Porsche Cayman R represents the pinnacle of the first Cayman generation (type 987.2) and was introduced as a particularly dynamic, sporty special model. Porsche unveiled the Cayman R at its premiere on November 17, 2010, at the LA Auto Show and offered it on the European market from February 2011. Compared to the regular Cayman S, the Cayman R featured a weight reduction of around 55 kg, a slight increase in power to 330 hp, and a 20 mm lower sports suspension.
