Model history:

For the last time, the Porsche 911 had an air-cooled boxer engine in the 993 series. It came from the 964 and had a displacement of 3.6 liters, but had been heavily modified for use in the 993. The power grew to 272 hp, from 1995 it increased by the use of a so-called Vario Cam system to 285 hp. Externally, these models were recognizable by the somewhat rectangular exhaust tailpipes. For the first time, the 993 series had been equipped with a 6-speed gearbox - optionally, the 4-speed automatic transmission was available again. The multi-link rear axle had also undergone a thorough overhaul, which now enabled even higher lateral accelerations.

Engine

272 hp is generated by the six-cylinder boxer engine in the rear of this 993 Carrera 2 - the power is transmitted via a 4-speed automatic transmission called Tiptronic to the rear wheels. In 2022, the Porsche was subjected to a final service, the engine got a seal in the meantime and, according to seller statements, now runs as on the first day.
