Model history

For Volkswagen, the Continental GT, presented in 2003, was the first project since the Bentley takeover in 1998. The 2+2-seater coupé is based on the VW Phaeton and Audi A8 platform. In addition to the chassis with air suspension, permanent all-wheel drive, and torque converter automatic transmission, the British car also shares the basic features of its corporate siblings in terms of its powertrain. In the Bentley, the engine was boosted to 560 hp through the use of two turbochargers. In 2007, a performance-enhanced version of the Continental GT called the "Speed" was launched. During the production period, the power output even increased to 630 hp in the Continental Supersports.
