Porsche 951 944 Coupé (1988)

Vehicle description

Model history:

After the Porsche factory holidays in 1981, the 944 model comes onto the market. The first models of the new transaxle Porsche were not delivered until 1982. Compared to the predecessor 924, the Zuffenhausen-based company has made considerable technical gains in the 944: the 2.5-litre drive is now a thoroughbred Swabian. In principle, the 944 engine resembles half a V8 of the 928, the cylinder head also comes from the Gran Turismo. In 1985, the interior changed significantly, giving the 944 a more mature appearance. The basic model of the Porsche 944 was built until 1989 – a total of over 112,000 units of this model with the 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder engine came together.

General information about the vehicle:

The Porsche 944 released for auction in this auction is a transaxle sports car from the revised 944 series (944/II), which was first registered in Germany in 1988 with the FIN WP0ZZZ94ZKN400526. According to the seller, the so-called matching numbers are assumed for this partially restored 944 - an exact history or a checkbook for the Porsche can not be presented. A total of 4 owners are said to have called the 944 their own to this day. A valid technical inspection runs until November 2024, the Porsche already has an H approval and a valuation report from January 2023, which certifies this 944 a replacement value of € 18,500, is also available.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

Visually, this 944 in the color red is according to statements of the seller in good condition and repainting took place in the area of the sills. As a defect, the current owner indicates various stone chips in the front area, otherwise there are no inconsistencies on the exterior and all attachments of the transaxle Porsche are preserved in complete condition. In order to get a detailed overview of the condition of the exterior, we refer to the telling series of pictures of the vehicle. The various videos also offer a good overview.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

Bridgestone tyres are mounted on 7-spoke chrome alloy rims. The seller attests to the tires a condition of 70-90%, the brakes came only recently new and in the area of the chassis apparently no inconsistencies can be detected.

Interior:

Leather seats, the 3-spoke steering wheel and the gear knob have been newly upholstered in leather: Gross damage or even missing parts are obviously not to be criticized in the interior. The equipment on board this transaxle sports car includes power steering, central locking, power windows, electrically adjustable seats, heated seats and a CD radio. The equipment highlight is definitely the sunroof of this 944, which can either be lifted slightly or completely removed and stowed in the trunk. For a detailed overview of the interior, we refer to the other photos.

Mileage:

In the clearly structured instrument cluster of this 944, a mileage of approx. 116,000 kilometres can be read. After consultation with the seller, however, the total mileage is about 270,000 kilometers, as a newly overhauled speedometer instrument was installed.

Engine:

The water-cooled in-line four-cylinder engine of this Porsche 944 has a displacement of 2.7 liters and 165 hp - the power transmission to the rear axle is done by means of a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller mentions that the engine has been partially overhauled and both timing belts and the water pump including tension pulleys were new. Furthermore, the engine mounts and the exhaust were renewed. A final service took place in 2023.

Subsoil:

The current holder describes the condition of the subfloor as rustproof and cavity sealed. This Porsche 944 offered here from the already revised series is a vehicle that allows an entry into the Porsche world and which can also be used as an everyday vehicle without any problems. In addition, this 944/II has the 2.7-liter engine, which was only briefly installed in the 944 history.
