After the Vanquish model was the last Aston Martin to be produced at the 50-year-old factory in Newport Pagnell, the DB9 became the first car of the brand to be built in Gaydon (Warwickshire). While its predecessor, the DB7, still bore a strong resemblance to the Jaguar XK8, the 2004 DB9 was a completely new development. Among its innovations was an aluminum monocoque. The DB9 was designed by Ian Callum, and his successor, Henrik Fisker, completed the vehicle. As is typical for Aston Martin, the DB9 is also largely based on craftsmanship.
