Porsche 911 (1981)

Vehicle description

Model history:

Actually, the end of Germany's most popular sports car had long been decided, because the Porsche management decided at that time that the 911 series with its aging six-cylinder boxer engines should be replaced from 1981 by the Type 928 with modern V8 in the front. Above all, in order to meet the then new exhaust emission limits for the important US market, the V8 was easier to convert. However, when the decision to discontinue production became known to the public, there was a worldwide outcry among the owners and friends of the nine-eleven: In Stuttgart, the call was heard and the nine-eleven did not die. As history would show, it was the right strategy, because the 911 SC brought the sports car manufacturer through the coming economically difficult years.

General information about the vehicle:

In this auction there is now the possibility to purchase a Porsche 911 SC as Targa from the year of construction 1981, which is a US reimport and was first registered in March 1981. Through an existing CarFax, the history of this Porsche 911 can be traced in the USA, unfortunately, according to the seller, the 1st ownership can not be proven. The Porsche has already received TÜV including an H-approval - according to the seller, the car is not registered and was moved with a red 07 license plate. Matching numbers are given on this vehicle.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

Visually, the 911 SC Targa in the colour "tin silver" obviously impresses with its well-preserved condition. After consultation with the seller, the Porsche is accident-free and still completely preserved in the first paint. All attachments on the vehicle are preserved in good condition and no inconsistencies can be found in the Targa roof. At the front, the SC Targa has auxiliary headlights. As a defect, the current owner of the car indicates the driver's mirror: This has a small defect, as it can be turned very easily - this would have to be checked. The further condition of the exterior can be found in the telling pictures of this Porsche 911.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

205/55 ZR16 tires of the Continental brand are fitted with sufficient tread mounted on original Fuchs rims. According to the seller, the rims and tires were recently rebuilt and the brake system underwent an overhaul. Modifications in the area of the brake system are not to be listed, nor in the chassis area.

Interior:

Above all, the interior of the Porsche 911 SC Targa can be described as extremely colourful: red leather seats and red door panels and the centre console, which is partly coloured red, stand out in the interior. The driver's seat can obviously be taken from some wear, otherwise a generally good condition can be seen inside the Porsche. The targa roof can be easily removed and folded and properly locked again. In addition to power windows and the 3-spoke leather steering wheel, this Porsche also has a Blaupunkt radio.

Mileage

Based on the present CarFax, the mileage of the car of 109,000 kilometers can be traced according to the seller. All instruments, displays and controls in the interior are in service without any problems.

Engine

180 hp is generated by the 3.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine of this SC Targa - the power transmission takes over a 5-speed manual transmission. Technically, according to the information provided by the current owner, an overhaul took place: valves were adjusted, spark plugs and ignition cables as well as ignition cap with fingers were new, the fuel filter was renewed, oil pressure transmitters were replaced and all liquids were changed.

Subsoil:

The underside of the 911 SC Targa from 1981 is obviously clean. At Porsche, the Targa body variant represents the ideal compromise between a convertible and a coupé. This SC Targa offered here is not only a source of enthusiasm due to its colour combination of exterior and interior, but also the low mileage of the car and the associated condition speak for themselves.
