Der Silver Spirit ist der Nachfolger des Silver Shadow. Er wurde in verschiedenen Serien (I bis IV) sowie unter verschiedenen Namen von 1980 bis 1998 produziert. Zu der Baureihe, die intern als Rolls-Royce SZ bezeichnet wird, gehören auch die Modelle Silver Spur, Silver Dawn, Centenary, Park Ward und Touring Limousine. Der Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit ist außerdem baugleich mit dem Bentley Mulsanne. Einige Varianten waren sowohl als Rolls-Royce als auch als Bentley verfügbar, andere nur als Rolls-Royce oder nur als Bentley.
