The Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino was the first production Ferrari with an eight-cylinder engine – previously, Ferrari had relied exclusively on six and twelve-cylinder engines. The high-revving V8 later formed the basis for other models in the 308 series and the Mondial.
The brand history is also special: until May 1976, the model was sold under the name "Dino" – without the Ferrari logo – in memory of Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari.
