As the successor to the "Pagoda" models, the new roadsters of the R107 series had great market success, although they had lost the lightness of the lines of the older series purely externally. Nevertheless, they had been technically considerably refined and completely modernized. In addition to the models with six-cylinder engines, the introduction of the V8 engines, whose displacement ranged from 3.5 liters to 5.5 liters, provided new driving performance dimensions. Until 1989, the roadsters of the 107 series were constantly facelifted and still represented quite contemporary technical standards – even after almost 20 years of construction.

The Mercedes-Benz model offered in this auction is a 380SL of the R107 series from 1983. The SL with the FIN WDB10704512027563 comes from the USA and was first registered there in July 1983, a total of 3 vehicle owners are known to the current seller – with himself. According to the seller, a history is available and consists of various invoices and previous TÜV reports. The circumference of the keys is 2 pieces. The R107 already has an H-approval, the TÜV is still done before the handover. Matching numbers are given with this 380SL. Also worth mentioning is a classic car valuation report from 2018, which certified this Mercedes-Benz Roadster offered here at the time a replacement value of 34,500 € and a market value of 32,500 €.

In Germany, the Mercedes-Benz underwent a complete repaint in the colour "Lugano grey" at a professional car paint shop in 2014. Due to the not too long ago paintwork, the body of the 380SL is in very good shape without any apparent paint chips or other damage. The dark blue soft top has no cracks and the plastic windows of the fabric top show no damage – the entire soft top came some time ago completely new. The bumpers of the 380SL indicate no parking bumps, in the current possession the Mercedes ran accident-free. The chrome elements on the vehicle have a shiny condition, modifications to the SL are not to be found.

According to the seller, tyres as good as new are mounted on original and in good condition light alloy rims (so-called "Gullideckel" aluminum rims). In terms of braking, there are no defects to complain about, the chassis is obviously in proper condition.

Blue leather, which is hardly worn out, can be found in the interior of the 380SL: the stain-free blue interior carpet and an unpicked black four-spoke steering wheel immediately catch the eye when looking at the interior. Damage or even missing parts in the interior of the R107 are not to be found. The function of the soft top is perfectly given, a hardtop is available and is of course given. According to the evaluation of the VIN, the following equipment features can be recorded: cruise control, antenna automatically extendable, armrest foldable front, automatic climate control, electric windows, thermally insulating glass and a Radio Becker Mexico Grand Prix.
