Model history
The Wartburg 311, built from 1956 to 1965 by VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach, was a versatile GDR vehicle, available as a saloon, estate, coupé, luxury version and two-seater roadster. Its two-stroke engine was enlarged to 992 cm³ in 1962. Between 1965 and 1967, the transitional model 312 followed, which already used the chassis of the later Wartburg 353, and heralded the change to more modern designs. The 311 had a lasting impact on the automotive history of the GDR.

LG Tom
