Model history
Development of the W 116 series began in 1966 with the aim of taking comfort and passive safety to a new level. The result was unveiled in Spain in 1972: a significantly wider, flatter, and more safety-oriented vehicle with striking design elements such as horizontal headlights, an upholstered interior, and, for the first time, a wind tunnel-optimized body. As the first series officially designated "S-Class," the W 116 set new standards—both technically and in terms of design—and served as a model for many subsequent Mercedes models.

Comments of this past auction
LG Tom
