Model history

The Porsche 944 Turbo was introduced in 1985 as the most powerful version of the 944 series and is now considered one of the most exciting transaxle Porsches. With its 2.5-liter turbo engine, 220 hp (later up to 250 hp) and balanced weight distribution thanks to its transaxle design, it offered exceptional driving dynamics for the 1980s. The 944 Turbo was the first production Porsche with a turbocharged engine that was tuned for both performance and everyday usability. It combined the reliability and everyday usability of the 924/944 series with the performance of a thoroughbred sports car. The rarer Targa version in particular combines driving pleasure with a touch of convertible feeling, making this model a sought-after collector's item today.
