Model history

The seventh generation of the Porsche 911, known as the 991 series, was presented at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September 2011, replacing the previous 997 generation. As the third completely newly developed platform in the history of the 911 after the original model from 1963 and the 996 from 1999, the 991 brought with it numerous technical and aerodynamic improvements. The model series was characterized by a longer wheelbase, a wider track and a further developed chassis set-up that optimized both driving dynamics and comfort. With a production time of eight years, the 991 was manufactured until December 2019, with a total of 233,540 units of this model being produced.
