The Mercedes-Benz SL R129 series was produced between 1989 and 2001 as the successor to the legendary R107. This model set new standards in the luxury roadster segment – both technically and visually. A characteristic feature of the R129 was the electro-hydraulic soft top, which could be opened and closed at the touch of a button. It was complemented by a color-coordinated soft top box system and a manually mountable hardtop, which provided additional protection and everyday practicality when required. With its timeless design, advanced technology, and high level of driving comfort, the R129 is still considered one of the most successful SL generations to date. It was finally replaced by the R230 in 2002.
