Model history

The BMW Z3 ushered in a new era for the German carmaker. It was the first model that was not built in Germany, but at the then new plant in America. Initially equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, the versions after 1996 were fitted with a more powerful 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine.
