When it comes to elegant roadsters, there is no way around Mercedes-Benz. Since the middle of the last century, the abbreviation "SL" has been a synonym for this type of vehicle: in 1954, the Stuttgart-based company founded the model series with the 300 SL, the legendary gullwing – from 1857 also available as a roadster. In 1971, the third generation of the SL (SL stands for "super light") came onto the market. Fluted taillights and the wide headlights were the features of the new design, which was soon to be found on other Mercedes models. In its long construction period of 18 years, a total of almost 237,000 Mercedes-Benz Roadsters of the 107 model series were sold by the end of production in 1989.

According to the seller, the vehicle was restored about 15 years ago, in the course of which a repaint in the silver Mercedes-Benz shade was carried out. Although the restoration work has now been carried out some time ago, this Mercedes-Benz impresses with its overall good condition on the exterior. Rust bubbles on the left fender in the transition to the headlight represent a drop of courage. The chrome as well as all attachments to the car are complete and in clean condition preserved. No cracks or other damage in the fabric hood can be removed from the black fabric hood (renewed in 2021) – the plastic rear window is also impeccable. Neither front nor rear bumpers have a parking bumper. The seller completely excludes an accident.

Mounted on the car are tyres with sufficient tread, which are mounted on original Mercedes-Benz aluminium rims. The current owner states the condition of the brakes as very good, defects in the area of the chassis are not known to him.

In the interior, the restoration work decided to renew the leather seats in the colours red and black. A few changes deviating from the original condition were apparently made in the interior of this 280 SL, but there is no damage to the interior of the Mercedes-Benz. The black fabric top is easy to use. The R 107 is equipped with power steering and a Mercedes-Benz cassette radio with additional speakers behind the seats. All instruments, switches and displays in the interior can be certified as functioning properly.

The underbody of the Mercedes-Benz is very good in terms of condition: improperly carried out repairs to the underside cannot be detected. With a newly installed soft top in 2021 and a well-kept overall condition, this roadster is waiting for its next exit. The combination of double camshaft six-cylinder and manual transmission harmonizes very well and ensures that this 280 SL can also be moved a little sportier. Due to the black/red leather seats, this roadster also exudes a certain individual charm, which lovers of an SL should not miss.
