Model history:

BMW's first three-cylinder roadster (E36), which was produced exclusively in the USA, was a bestseller for the brand. Its rounded design, wide hood and side gills ensured that the roadster was quite successful in the same field as the Mazda MX-5, Fiat Barchetta and Alfa Spider, with almost 280,000 units sold. However, the engine range of the Z3 was much wider than that of its competitors: from the 115 hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder to the 2.8-liter six-cylinder introduced in 1996 to the brute 3.2-liter of the Z3 M. In the end, the Z3 Roadster was sold as a roadster. Finally, the Z3 Roadster was built until 2002.

The roadster up for auction in this auction is a BMW Z3 2.8 built in 1997. The history of this model first delivered in Germany with the VIN WBACJ31010LD46003 is as follows: First owner of the Z3 was a BMW dealership for 3 months, after which the roadster came into the hands of a FIrma, to pass into private ownership after 3 years. Then the current seller acquired the BMW Z3, who later sold it but bought it back after 18 years. From the present vehicle title 5 owners are to be read out, but due to this history it is according to the present seller actually only altogether 3 owners. Beside the original old vehicle title there is also a complete checkbook for this BMW. Matching Numbers are given and the TÜV runs until February 2025.

Exterior color/paint/bodywork:

As paint this BMW Z3 Roadster wears the color "Atlantablau-Metallic": Due to the fact that a clean look is important to the current owner, a repainting of the hood, fenders and door was carried out in 2021 due to stone chips and scratches. An accident can be completely ruled out and modifications deviating from the original condition cannot be noted on the exterior of this BMW. All plastic parts on the vehicle are also present in complete as well as very well preserved condition and the black soft top presents clean as well. The current owner of the Z3 estimates the condition of the brakes to be 50-70%. In terms of suspension, this Roadster has an M-Sport suspension from the factory.

Engine

The heart of this roadster is the 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine, which transmits 192 hp to the rear axle via a 5-speed manual transmission. Service work was last performed on the vehicle in March 2021.
