Vehicle description
Chris Smith was a driver and engineer in historic motorsport and fulfilled his dream of a sports car in the spring of 1982 with the replica of a Lotus Eleven. After receiving several requests to sell the replica, he founded Westfield Sportscars Ltd. in 1983. The SE is Westfield's best-known and best-selling model. The name – like the design and construction of the vehicle – is based on the Lotus Seven. The vehicle was initially called Westfield 7SE and was available in various versions over the years. After the development of the Westfield 7SE, the production of the Westfield XI was slowly phased out. In 1991, the company was expanded and moved to Kingswinford in a modern production and administration building. Shortly thereafter, the SEight was introduced, a Westfield SE with a Rover V8 engine.
To be auctioned here is a Westfield SE with first registration on 26.05.1991. Originally imported from England, the vehicle is now with its current owner in Germany. The previous owner hardly drove or not at all, according to the seller he was simply too big for the car (for reference: 1.90 m & 130 kg). A total of 3 holders are registered. The TÜV badge is no longer valid and there is no H license plate. But the SE is ready to drive and, according to the seller, brings a lot of joy with it. The vehicle has a key. Accidents or repainting are not known to the owner. It is worth mentioning that this car is an original left-hand drive, otherwise there are almost only right-hand drive vehicles. Currently, the Westfield is in an Austrian museum of a private collector. The museum was built especially for the private collection and has been open to the public for some time.
The thoroughbred sports car is painted in "Westfield British Racing Green" and decorated with all sorts of "Team Lotus" emblems. After many years, the paint has smaller cracks and quirks, which can be easily seen in the pictures. On the rear left fender there is a minimal paint defect. However, further defects are not specified or visible. Since the fenders are made of plastic, no rust can occur here as well.
The rims are from JBW, have little to no signs of use and are wrapped in Ventus R tires of the brand Hankook (size 195/50 ZR15). According to the seller, the tires are in top condition and the brakes are still good. No defects or adjustments were reported in the chassis and brakes.
The interior is very puristic, contains only the most important for a sporty driving experience and can be protected by a water-repellent cover, also called a persenning. The seats are made of brown imitation leather and decorated with a black border. As accessories there are side windows and a Weber double carburetor is also part of the equipment. As can be seen in the pictures, the steering wheel has signs of use corresponding to age. Apart from that, the interior is in good condition, defects are not indicated.
Only 6,816 km can be read on the speedometer, so the SE has only been taken out for special trips in the last 31 years. According to the seller, all displays and instruments in the cockpit work without restrictions.
The engine is an engine developed by Ford with 1,566 cc and 68kW or 92hp. The double carburetor and the laterally located exhaust system provide a fantastic sound. Shifting is classic with a manual transmission and the last service was a year ago. The seller does not specify any defects for the technology and speaks of an underbody in top condition.
Nothing had to be repaired so far, only the exhaust seals were replaced. According to the seller, there will be no repair in the near future. Due to its low weight, the Westfield SE is a sports car with special driving pleasure. Especially in summer and on winding routes, the SE shows what makes it so special. A car outside the mainstream, built by hand, in a small factory in England. So if you are looking for a purist sports car with passion, with a historic design, the Westfield SE is the right place for you.

Comments of this past auction
The car was imported from England, it is currently registered in Germany? In which year the car was registered in Germany?
Hello lfvieira73, we forward the reply from the seller: "the Westfield was first registered in Germany in 1991, and was exported to Austria in 2022 and officially type-approved here in Austria in 2023! This means that this vehicle now has two official individual approvals and papers so that it can be registered in Austria or Germany! Furthermore, last year (2023) I had the entire vehicle optically and technically overhauled, so the vehicle is like new and is immediately ready to drive without any problems and also has a new MOT/TÜV in Austria!" Kind regards, the Kickdown-Team
