Model history
The Jaguar XK8 (X100) made its debut in 1996 as a luxurious coupé and convertible with a new 4.0-liter V8. The more powerful XKR with supercharger followed in 1998. In 2003, Jaguar replaced the engines with modern 4.2-liter variants. A special farewell series, the XK8 4.2-S, was presented at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, 2005. This model was one of the last X100 vehicles to be produced at Jaguar's Browns Lane plant in Coventry. The technical basis of the XK8 came from an earlier development project and was also used for the Aston Martin DB7.
