The Porsche 914 was developed in the late 1960s as a joint project between Volkswagen and Porsche. The aim was to develop a sporty car as the successor to the Karmann Ghia and a new entry-level model for Porsche. The mid-engine sports car was unveiled in 1969 and built by Karmann.
