Model history

The Porsche 914 was developed in the late 1960s as a joint project between Volkswagen and Porsche. The aim was to develop a sporty car as the successor to the Karmann Ghia and a new entry-level model for Porsche. The mid-engine sports car was unveiled in 1969 and built by Karmann. While the 914/4 was delivered with VW technology, the 914/6 was equipped with a Porsche six-cylinder engine. The model was marketed through a joint sales company based in Ludwigsburg, which is why many factory vehicles bear an "LB" license plate. With its unique design, mid-engine concept, and Targa roof, the 914 has since become a recognized classic.

LG Tom
