The so-called Midget model of the company MG initially technically corresponded to the Austin-Healey Sprite. The MkI built from 1961 onwards was followed by an improved MkII in 1964 and the MG Midget MkIII appeared in 1966. When the last Austin-Healey Sprite left the factory in 1971, its sister model – the MG Midget – was to be built for another 8 years. This is how the MkIV was born, which was finally built until 1979 and was to become the last Midget series.
