The 450 SLC was based on the shorter SL roadster, but was designed as a coupé with a fixed roof and four seats. Under the hood was a powerful 4.5-liter V8 engine that offered impressive performance for its time. The 450 SLC was not only a luxurious Gran Turismo, but also a successful rally car, winning the 1978 and 1980 Bandama Rally in Africa. With its blend of elegance, comfort and sporty performance, the 450 SLC was a unique selling point in the Mercedes range and was built for over ten years. To this day, it is considered one of the most stylish coupés of its era.
