Model history

No sooner had it hit the market than Porsche engineers set about further developing the 911 Turbo 3.0 in 1976, the first series-production sports car in which the sports car manufacturer Porsche installed a turbocharger. The new model was called the Turbo 3.3 and, as the model name suggests, had more displacement: now 3.3 liters instead of 3.0 liters. In addition, newly developed pistons, cylinders, and connecting rods were installed for greater stability, along with an oil pump with increased delivery capacity and a larger compressor wheel for the turbocharger from Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch. The 911 Turbo 3.3 was also the first production car ever to feature an intercooler. The result: 300 hp at 5500 rpm, maximum torque of 430 Newton meters at 4000 rpm, and 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds.

LG Tom
