In 2001, a new generation of the SL series appeared, as usual with many innovations. The R 230 was fresh and modern. Rounded lines signaled the arrival of the SL in the 21st century. Thanks to a folding roof made of aluminum, the Swabian could be transformed from a full-fledged coupé into a chic roadster within a few seconds. But even under the sheet metal dress, a lot had changed. Optional systems such as SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control), in conjunction with Active Body Control, minimized body movement when braking or cornering. In addition to various 6- and 8-cylinder engines, there were also models with V12 engines in the R 230 series.

According to the seller, matching numbers are given and a checkbook can be presented for the purpose of traceability of the history, and the mileage can also be verified. A valid MOT is given until June 2025.

Exterior paint/paint/body:

Visually, the first thing that catches the eye of this R 230 is the matt grey foiling - after consultation with the seller, this was only recently applied. Underneath the foil is the original paint, which, according to the owner, is repaint-free and shows itself in blue. Except for the complete wrapping on the exterior of this Mercedes-Benz SL 500, the body of the vehicle is in an original condition without modifications - the seller also mentions that he can confirm that it is accident-free. Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

Original Mercedes-Benz five-spoke alloy wheels have tyres which, according to the seller, have a state of preservation of 70-90%. The brakes should also still have 70-90% of their condition. According to the seller, there are no negative complaints to be made in the area of the chassis.

Interior:

The interior of this Mercedes-Benz Roadster, which is obviously very neat and has been preserved without any missing parts, is largely beige. The equipment elements of the SL 500 are quite rich, because among other things the following options can be found on board: leather seats, two-tone leather steering wheel, heated seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, wind deflector and radio with display. All equipment elements can be said to function perfectly and all switches and controls seem to work perfectly. Mileage:

This SL 500 has covered around 67,000 kilometres since it was first registered in 2002 - the total mileage can be traced via a checkbook.

Engine:

In the front of this R 230 sits a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, which delivers an output of 306 hp to the rear wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission (5G-Tronic). This Mercedes-Benz underwent a final service only recently - in June 2023.

Subsoil:

No inconsistencies can apparently be found on the underbody of the SL, which was first registered in 2002. With the R 230, Mercedes-Benz introduced a foldable hard roof (Vario roof) into the SL generation for the first time - so owners of an R 230 can enjoy two vehicle bodies in one car: Coupé plus Cabriolet. Thanks to the foiling, this SL 500 appears sportier than normal - the combination of exterior and interior harmonises, and the Mercedes-Benz released for auction here also impresses with its low mileage and all-round beautiful condition.
