Model history

The BMW 2002 was developed in the late 1960s as a sporty evolution of the 1600-2 and was offered with 2.0-litre engines in various power outputs. It was followed in 1971 by the 2002 tii with fuel injection and, in 1973, by the 2002 Turbo – Europe's first series-production turbocharged car. In addition to sedans, touring and convertible versions were also produced. A planned fastback coupé remained a prototype.
