The introduction of the 911S was aimed at establishing Porsche in the sports car segment. Unveiled for the first time in Frankfurt at the IAA, the Porsche 911S featured a more powerful engine that delivered 154 hp from a displacement of 2.0 liters. Offered as a coupé or Targa, Porsche took a step towards further establishing itself in the sports car market. Over the years, the displacement was increased to 2.2 and later to 2.4 liters, so that the 911S in its most powerful version delivered 190 hp – making it the fastest road car from a German manufacturer at the time.

      @TomTom1 ich will nicht schlaumeiern, aber zur Legende der Ölklappe hält sich diese Sache mit dem falschen Tanken, vorzugweise durch amerikanische Hausfrauen, seit mindestens 30 Jahren und wird von fast allen eins zu eins übernommen. Ist ja auch eine schöne Geschichte. Der Grund für die Aufgabe der externen Ölbefüllung liegt aber in einem anderen technischen Grund. Der Öltank lag bei der Ölklappe direkt über dem rechten Hinterreifen. Es liegt nahe, dass es bei Ölundichtigkeiten dazu kam, dass Öl auf den Reifen lecken konnte. Dies ist natürlich ein schweres Sicherheitsrisiko im Fahrbetrieb. Dazu kam noch die exponierte Position des Öltank, der ja direkt hinter der Seitenwand lag und im Falle eines Unfall das Brandrisiko deutlich erhöhte. Aus diesem Grund haben die Sicherheitsbehörden in denn USA ( DMV) Porsche gerügt und um Abstellung dieses Sicherheitsmangel verlangt. Porsche war das im Grunde sowieso ganz lieb, denn neben dem Sicherheitsaspekt war das System auch deutlich teurer als jede interne Lösung, da der Tank, seine Anbringung und vor allem die teureren Ölschläuche zu einigen Mehrkosten führte. So, jetzt also doch geschlaumeiert. Dennoch schöne Grüße....

        Technik: Eigentlich muss es heißen "Porsche 911S 2.4" (Ölklappe)! Nochmal kurz erklärt "Ölklappe": Porsche hat eine geniale Nachfüll-vorrichtung für das Motoröl konstruiert. Einziger Nachteil der Porsche hatte eine "Tanklappe" vorne links und nun auch noch wo viele Fahrzeuge es auch hatten eine "Ölklappe" hinten rechts.... Nun kam es zu folgenschweren "Fehlbetankungen" was einige Motoren das Leben kostete!! Dies führte zur Streichung dieser genialen Konstruktion aus der Serie bei Porsche nach knapp einem Jahr! LG Tom
