Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4S (2002)

Louis Kalendruschat

Kickdown's Take

by Louis Kalendruschat

It's no coincidence that the 4S is one of the most popular models in the 996 series: as a naturally aspirated engine with a wide rear end, it has great classic car potential. This model is a sought-after manual transmission in an exciting color combination – the nephrite green interior is rare and a real eye-catcher!

Model history

With the 996 model, Porsche made a radical break with the previous 911 tradition in 1998: instead of air-cooled, a water-cooled boxer engine was used for the first time – a technical necessity in order to meet exhaust emission standards and performance requirements. Visually, too, there was little left of the original 911: the body was wider, longer, and aerodynamically redesigned. The Carrera 4S variant in particular combines the turbo look with a wide track, all-wheel drive, and harmonious design – making it one of the most sought-after models in the 996 series.

LG Tom
