Model history:

Aufrecht, Melcher, Großaspach - the abbreviation of these three names has stood for excellence in engine technology since 1967. Named after the two founders and the original company headquarters, the AMG company has developed over the decades into the renowned high-performance supplier of Mercedes-Benz. While AMG initially attracted attention primarily through notable successes in DTM motorsport, the company first began to manufacture engines completely independently from the mid-1980s onwards, which were used in vehicles bearing the star. In the course of the late 1980s and early 1990s, the company was able to appeal to an increasingly broad audience - AMG as a brand became firmly established and visibly gained in popularity and recognition. The development of the new C-Class (W202), which was called AMG for the first time ever, coincided precisely with this period. Introduced in May 1993, the mid-size sedan replaced the highly successful 190 Mercedes (W201), which by then was getting on in years. In contrast to its predecessor, this new C-Class was also available as a station wagon (estate) for the first time from March 1996. After AMG had already offered the W202 as a six-cylinder C36, the C43 followed in 1997 with its powerful 4.3-liter eight-cylinder unit. It was the first V8 ever to be installed in a C-Class. A total of just 772 units of the T models were built. In this respect, well-preserved examples of this series are extremely rare to find today - as a notchback anyway, as a station wagon even more so.

General information about the vehicle:

One of 772 C 43 AMG T models is now offered for sale at auction: This AMG was registered in August 1998 for the first time in Germany to the traffic and was taken up many years ago according to the seller's information in a private collection. A history is provable due to the available checkbook and various documents, in addition all keys to the car with the VIN WDB2020931F693737 are still present. The vehicle was just presented to the TÜV and is according to this defect-free. All neuralgic places which often show weak points are in very good condition (e.g. tailgate, hood)

Exterior color/paint/bodywork:

The C43 shines in the original color scheme black metallic "Obsidianschwarz", manufacturer's code 197. Some years ago the car has been repainted. External changes were not made beyond that. Slight age-related traces of use are of course minimally visible on the sheet metal, but these are only superficial things, as evidenced by the numerous pictures.

Exterior Rims/Brakes/Suspension:

Mounted on the vehicle are the original AMG monoblock rims size 7.5x17 inches. They are in excellent condition. The corresponding summer tires (manufacturer Toyo) are as good as new. No modifications have been made to the chassis. The brakes are in good condition. All in all there are no defects in this area.

Interior:

The interior features black full leather in good condition for its age, plus optional equipment including power windows, power mirrors and power seat adjustment, plus luggage compartment separation, heated seats, cruise control, radio and automatic climate

All mentioned components are fully functional; furthermore, there is no damage to the interior.

Mileage

Read off the mileage is approximately 197,500 km. Since the checkbook was kept up to 150,000 km, most of the driven kilometers can be verified, so the current speedometer reading seems realistic. All onboard instruments and gauges work without any problems.

Engine

The M113 engine with its 4,266 cc displacement produces 306 hp (225 kW), accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds, while the 5-speed automatic transmission shifts through smoothly and without jerks. A compression test showed that all eight cylinders are at full pressure: the average value is 11.56 bar. Measurements from the first to the eighth cylinder showed values on a range of 10.5 - 12.5 bar. The last major service took place in 2017 at a speedometer reading of 150,000 km. After that, the engine was always always maintained and the necessary work was performed. The engine and technology do not have any defects. The underbody is also in good condition.

On the underbody side, this AMG can be attested a condition corresponding to the overall mileage: Overall, the underbody is in good condition.
