Technik: Als Nachfolger des 964 Carrera RSR 3.8 erschien 1997 der 993 Cup 3.8 RSR. Er war für den Renneinsatz in den damaligen GT3-Klassen (entsprechen heute GT2) und nationalen Rennserien bestimmt. Das Fahrzeug basierte nun auf dem Porsche 993 Cup und erhielt die Kotflügelverbreiterungen und das Rennfahrwerk vom 993 GT2. Der Motor wurde aus dem Vorgänger übernommen und nur geringfügig überarbeitet. Statt fünf hatte das Getriebe nun sechs Gänge. Das Fahrzeug konnte für einen Preis von 238.500 D-Mark bestellt werden und speziell für Langstreckenrennen auch mit einer anderen Bremsanlage mit Bremsscheiben von 380 Millimetern Durchmesser und einem 100-Liter-Sicherheitstank geliefert werden. Darüber hinaus gab es auch eine Motorvariante mit Katalysator und Schalldämpfer, die eine Teilnahme am Veedol-Langstreckenpokal erlaubte. LG Tom
